NOTE: The use of the masculine pronoun in certain portions of the following document is merely a matter of old-fashioned form and not intended to be discriminatory as to sex. The words "Chairman" and "Chairmen" are similarly intended as nondiscrimination and are consistent with current general rules outlined in the latest UPI and AP Style Books.

CONSTITUTION

Article I
NAME

This Organization shall be known as "Ring 47, International Brotherhood of Magicians - Wizards of Wichita."

Article II
OBJECT

The object of this Ring shall be to promote harmony among those interested in Magic as an Art, and to advance the Ethics of the Magical Profession; to advance the Magical arts in the field of Entertainment.


Article III
MEMBERSHIP

Sec. 1. Any reputable and desirable person of 12 years of age or over who is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians is eligible for membership.

Sec. 2. Any reputable and desirable person of 12 years of age or over, not a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians but who meets the requirements, is eligible for membership. Application to this Ring and the International Brotherhood of Magicians may be made simultaneously.

Sec. 3. Classes of Membership:

(a) Active: Members of this Ring who are eighteen years of age or older shall be termed "active" members and shall have full rights and privileges in this Ring.

(b) Junior: Members who are twelve years of age but have not reached eighteen years of age shall be termed "Junior” members. Such Junior members shall enjoy all rights and privileges of this Ring except that of holding office, right to vote and serving on any committee. Junior members shall be considered the ward of their sponsor until such time he reaches the age of eighteen years, at which time he shall automatically become an "active" member.

(c) Honorary: "Honorary" membership may be conferred on those persons who have materially and clearly demonstrated their interest, energy and efforts toward the cultural advancement and integrity of the Art of Magic.

Nominations for this honor may be made by any Officer of Ring 47 at any time such notable personality is visiting or performing in Wichita, Kansas. Acceptance will be by unanimous vote of the Board. Presentation of any Special Certificate or Membership Card should be made by the President of Ring 47 or succeeding Officer.

(d) Lifetime: "Lifetime Membership" may be conferred upon any Ring member who has materially and clearly demonstrated his interest, energy and efforts toward the cultural advancement and integrity of the Ring. Such membership shall only be conferred at an Annual Meeting and then only by unanimous vote of the Board at the Regular meeting in May prior to the Annual Meeting.

Nominations for this honor must be made in writing and submitted to the Secretary prior to the May meeting. Such Honorary Members shall be entitled to all rights and benefits of an Active Member but shall be exempt from the payment of annual dues of this Ring. Any special plaque or certificate should be presented at the Annual Meeting in June by the Kansas Territorial Vice President, if present, or an official member of the Board.

Sec. 4. Application for membership in this Ring and election thereto shall be as provided in the By-Laws of this Ring.
