As this is written the realization is that this writer has known Roger for nearly forty years, becoming acquainted with him and his wife, Sheila, while living in Pratt where he was a pharmacist in a drug store. He was, and still is a member of Ring 47.

Because of the distance and his responsibilities to family and employer his attendance at the magic club was unsteady. But his interest in his favorite pastime did not lessen; he studied and practiced and increased his knowledge and activity in legerdemain and had a natural and easy manner of presentation. Inclined toward comedy I saw many innovations that were hilarious, so far as entertainment was concerned, whether or not he really completed a well-structured trick (of which he was very capable).

Because of his popularity he obtained many dates as a public speaker but used magic as a secondary prop. He became known as an outstanding Master of Ceremonies, his wit and charm, not overlooking his talents, placed him in great demand.

The family moved to Bonner Springs years ago where he owned his own drug store and could control his working schedule easier and was much closer to magical activity, clubs, etc. But he expanded his drug and medical knowledge to open a new field in that line. He travels considerably, making contacts countrywide but still enjoys performing or speaking at every opportunity.

And, very important to the IBM, and of particular interest to Kansas and Ring 47 members, during the past year (l998) he was elected to the International Brotherhood of Magicians' position of International Treasurer. We congratulate Roger and wish him and Sheila, (who has also recently become an associate member of the I.B.M.), our very best wishes.
