Denys was born into a family of eight and every one had a "Y" in their name so that explains the rest. He never had a shortage of assistants as Marjorie had that position until four daughters came along. Each — Nancy, LouAnn, Diana, and Lynette — had their share of assisting.

One of Denys' first tricks was made up of grapefruit cans and bottles. The trick worked but it required a pillow on the floor to catch the bottles "quietly".

I know that Denys is still making equipment, if not for himself, for someone else. As mentioned in our 25th Anniversary book a quarter century ago, he was the one that did the machining on the half dollars for Lowe's "first Kennedy expanded shell." He enjoys making magic but avoids the use of illusions because of the storage space required (and other disadvantages).

Denys has always been involved in church work and is always prepared with object lessons for children and youth groups. Denys has traveled extensively, many trips being to foreign countries where his group builds housing for those less fortunate. He always takes along magic to entertain the natives. It must be mentioned, however, that in some countries he has to be very careful what type of magic he does as these people are a few generations behind our culture. He has been in Haiti, Columbia, Peru, South Africa, Israel, England, Austria, Russia, Mexico, Canada and many of the States. Magic has no language barrier.

Denys has many hobbies. Being an Electronic Engineer (retired from Boeing) he naturally has an interest in amateur radio, large scale radio controlled model airplanes, computers, chess and motorcycling. Oh yes, he also has a ventriloquial figure that he would like to work with, if he could just find the time.
